The Mary Karpus Foster Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a graduating Woodland Park High School student who is pursuing continued education at either a two-year college, four-year college, or trade school.
Ms. Foster had a passion for her students and was committed to helping students continue their education. She founded the Beta Club, through which she sponsored several community service programs, including the Thanksgiving food drive and the Angel Tree program. She was the long term director of the district summer school program. Ms. Foster encouraged her students to contribute to their families, school, and/or community in any way they were able. She recognized that every student’s situation is unique and believed that no matter their circumstances, every student who has the desire and is willing to put in the effort to persevere, deserves a chance to continue their education.
Application must be completed in order to be considered.
In order to quality the student must:
• Demonstrate dedication and involvement in family, school or community.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• On track for graduation or anticipating graduating in June 2021.
• Supply an essay explaining qualifications for this scholarship.
• Supply two letters of recommendation (1 should be non-family).
